Deep Core Soil Surveys–Biofuel Cropping System Experiment

GLBRC093 :Deep Core Soil Surveys–Biofuel Cropping System Experiment

Deep soil cores (to 1 m) are collected roughly every 5 years from all treatments (G1-G10) of the GLBRC Biofuel Cropping System Experiment (BSCE) since its establishment in 2008. Soil cores are taken at all sampling stations (S1-S3) in each replicate (R1-R5), sectioned into 0-10, 10-25, 25-50, and 50-100 cm soil depth intervals, and each interval analyzed for bulk density, total carbon and nitrogen content, and agronomic soil chemistry. Soil texture and soil horizons were also identified in 2008.

Tables

GLBRC088-016 Soil Texture of Deep Cores

Percent sand, silt and clay of deep core soil samples from BCSE treatments (G1-G10), analyzed by soil depth interval. Soil texture is assigned from this particle size analysis.

GLBRC093-002 Agronomic Soil Chemistry of Deep Cores

Agronomic soil chemistry of deep core soil samples from all BCSE treatments (G1-G10) sent to a soil analytical laboratory for nutrient recommendations and analyzed by soil interval for pH, lime index, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, cation exchange capacity and organic matter. Note that soil intervals are composited by replicate (across sampling stations) for analysis.

GLBRC093-003 Soil Total Carbon and Nitrogen

Total soil carbon and nitrogen content of deep core soil samples from all BCSE treatments (G1-G10) sectioned into depth intervals and of surface samples (0-10 and 10-25 cm) collected in 2008-2009.

GLBRC093_004 Soil Horizons of Deep Cores

Soil horizons as identified from deep soil cores of all BCSE treatments (G1-G10) sampled in 2008 and sectioned into depth intervals.

GLBRC093-005 Soil Bulk Density of Deep Cores

Soil bulk density of deep core soil samples from BCSE treatments (G1-G10) sectioned into depth intervals
