- GLBRC088-005 Arlington Baseline Surface Soil Survey
- Soil analyses collected 30 June-2 July 2008, serve as a baseline soil survey for the Arlington GLBRC Intensive Site. - Only 1 bulk density core was taken per plot. This value is applied to all subsamples in the plot. - All are from horizon "act". The 0-10 cm samples were collected with 6 cm height cores and the 10-25cm samples were collected with 15 cm height cores. - Core diameter for all - 3.7 cm.
- GLBRC088-008 Agronomic Soil Chemistry
- Soil samples are taken annually (usually in the Fall) for fertilizer recommendations and analyzed for pH, lime index, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, cation exchange capacity and organic matter. KBS samples are analyzed by the Michigan State University Soil and Plant Nutrient Laboratory and University of Wisconsin Soils Laboratory .

- Soil extractable nitrogen from the GLBRC Biofuel Cropping System Experiment. Soil nitrate and ammonium are sampled routinely during the growing season. Note that in 2009 inorganic N was determined using the resin strip method; see related tables below.

- Soil temperature measurements from the Arlington GLBRC Biofuel Cropping System Experiment. KBS does not measure temperature when soil sampling.
- GLBRC088-019 Nitrogen mineralization
- During 2013, nitrogen mineralization and nitrification rates were measured at the GLBRC Intensive sites. Each main plot and microplot was measured 3 times (early growing season, mid-growing season, and post-harvest) using 28-day lab incubations at constant soil moisture and temperature. This table contains the change in soil nitrate (plus nitrite) and ammonium over the incubation period, which is used to calculate potential mineralization and nitrification rates.
- GLBRC088-021 Soil Carbon and Nitrogen- Baseline Prior to GLBRC Intensive Site
- One hundred soil samples were collected prior to setting up the GLBRC Biofuel Cropping System Experiment on the KBS GLBRC Intensive site. Samples were taken on a regular grid (20 x 100 meters) and sample coordinate locations were recorded with GPS. The sample grid included the area that soon after became the the GLBRC Biofuel Cropping System Experiment and Switchgrass Nitrogen/Harvest Experiment.
